Happy New Year!

I haven't posted in soooo long! Reasons: being busy AND being lazy. It was too hectic to post while I was away traveling for Christmas and after Christmas I started working on getting things put away, cleaned up, etc. You know the drill!

Here are some things that have happened in our lives while I've been busy not blogging:

We went to NM for Christmas and saw both sides of our families. It was great to see everybody but also a HUGE rush! We traveled Griswold-style as usual. We left NM around 10:00 p.m. on the 23rd to make it home to TX the morning of the 24th around 5:30 a.m.

We had the most wonderful white Christmas ever! The snow started on Christmas Eve and as we left that evening to attend a get-together at a friend's house, Ryan had to get out and shovel snow off the gate so that we could leave. The next morning when we woke up, the snow was still there and hung around for several days. It has never snowed in December since we have lived in North Texas. What a treat!

On Monday we started tearing out our old asphault driveway so that we can replace it with a concrete driveway. This has made our house a full-on mess! We are having to park out on the street so each time we arrive/depart, we have to hike to/from the house through the mud. My car is a complete mess with footprints all over the leather. I don't have any intentions of cleaning it until this project is over, hopefully within 7-10 days.

Ryan and I spent New Year's Eve with some friends and we went out for dinner and dancing. I can tell that we are getting old (or maybe just boring) because we left shortly after the stroke of midnight.

I've been working on my New Year's resolutions....I love the start of a fresh new year with big goals on the horizon! I'll share those with you later.

This is my last official post on blogspot. I've got my new blog ready minus a few minor tweaks that have to be made before next week. I'm looking forward to sharing my life with you there! Thank you for making the start of my blog this year so much fun!

Enjoy the day and the hope that the new year brings!

Freddie Mac

Yesterday as I was leaving my house to pick Kade up from school, I did a double-take as I was looking out in our pasture. Here is what I saw:

Whoo hoo, my Fannie Mae had her calf! She had just given birth and was cleaning him off and being so sweet and protective. I went into crazy mode and loaded her up with food and water and snapped a few pictures. I was trying to do this as fast as I could so I wouldn't be too late to pick Kade up from school. My little calf was so cute, I just wanted to go love on him but of course I couldn't do that.

Last night I texted my mom excitedly:

Me: Big news. Freddie Mac was born today!

Mom: ??? You r a grandmoo?

Mom's so cute making a funny!

This morning I tried to get some more pictures of Freddie since he was laying right by the fence.

As soon as I got down on the ground to take pictures, momma came over to let me know what was up.

It is so amazing to me how easily animals give birth and nurture their little ones like it is no big deal. My girl has already lost her baby weight and is up and around like a champ!

I am so excited that we have a new family member! I can't wait to get out and love on this sweet little boy!

***Don't forget to enter the give-a-way on my Total and Complete Randomness post a few days ago! I'm enjoying seeing your guesses!***
